Persephone's Women's Page

Women hold within their spirits, their bodies, their hearts and their very beings the fullness of the cycle of life. All people enter this life through the womb of a woman, most receive their nurturance from woman and many leave its doors with a hand of a woman in their's.

There was once a time when woman walked with her head held high. Where society gave reverence and respect for the woman's place. There are findings from many societies that give proof that woman, in some societies, walked beside man as an equal. They shared the power, the glory, the rewards. And within the chronicles of those societies, the evidence of prosperity, peace and mental and spiritual advancement are evident.

We have forgotten our power, have become deaf to the voices of our ancestresses, blind to the visions. Our men no longer listen to our counsel, our societies no longer grant us the respect of those that bring forth the new life. We no longer walk with our heads high, feel the beat of the mother earth beneath our feet, we no longer walk in balance.

It is time that we remember our past. It is time that we reclaim our power. It is time that homage is paid to those women who have walked before us, paving our roads. It is time to reclaim their names from the forgotten archives and display them for the world to see. It is time that we begin to teach our daughters that it is not a curse to be female, but a blessing. It is time we teach the world, remind the world, and tell the world of what we were, what we are, and what we are to become. It is time to demand the place we deserve and to fight with our last breath those that seek to send us into oppression again.

These pages are meant to serve as a forum to mark some of this knowledge, provide landmarks to seek further, and hopefully empower those that have not yet found their voice.
